About

What sort of person becomes an End of Life Doula?  Well I am Bev and I live just South of Chichester in West Sussex with my partner Steve and black Labrador, Gillie.

Steve and I have run the Chichester Death Cafe since 2017 and have also spoken on the subject of death and dying as part of the Talks at Six Initiative in Chichester.

I have trained as an End of Life Doula with Living Well Dying Well, and am a member of End of Life Doula UK.  I am certified by Living Well Dying Well to assist people with Advance Care Planning. Currently I am completing my portfolio so am a mentored Doula pending completion of this work.

It might seem an odd thing to do but I adore meeting people – it gives me the greatest satisfaction to help remove the fear that surrounds death and dying and to help people to live well knowing that they have made their wishes known.

I am currently Admin Team Leader at our local hospice and in the past I have been a wedding photographer, worked at Goodwood Racecourse and at an equine vets!

I am a volunteer photographer with Remember my Baby and provide family portrait photography to families who have experienced a stillbirth or the death of a baby soon after birth to allow them to have some enduring memories of their child.

It feels like I have found my vocation working in End of Life Care and I am keen to spread the word far and wide that dying might not be as bad as we think. Please watch the video below by Kathryn Mannix, one of the Patrons of End of Life Doula UK.
